Our expert panel representing the Big 4 consulting firms, will discuss the challenges around demonstrating the value risk management adds to an organisation. They will share some techniques to build this value.

It is an increasingly connected world, where risk can spread like contagion. The speed of this effect has changed over the last 100 years as we move from generation to generation with advances in technology and free trade. This session will discuss the impacts of this changing environment and how we can respond.

February 2009 saw an extraordinary two week heat wave develop over Eastern Australia placing it amongst the most severe of the past century. During this period - which included Black Saturday - Victoria's emergency services were stretched to the limit. This session will explore the challenges, perspectives and experiences from a panel of emergency responders.

The State Services Authority research has indicated a need for government to be more agile in meeting the needs of the State. This session will discuss this key emerging risk.

Current VMIA research has indicated that risk managers within Victoria come from a diverse range of backgrounds. With risk management becoming more and more an integral part of all organisations, this session will explore the strengths, skills and competencies that the risk manager of tomorrow will need.

The Australian Red Cross supports humanitarian relief efforts around the globe in some of the most remote and in many cases disaster effected areas. The Australian Red Cross provides professionals from a variety of backgrounds to work on international programs of the Red Cross on overseas aassignments across more than 20 countries. Here the Red Cross discusses risk management considerations and planning when preparing to send staff to volatile and dangerous postings overseas.
